Epilogue of ICAO AVSEC Symposium 2018
One of the most important supply chain security event in this year, ICAO AVSEC Symposium 2018 comes to an end. During the AVSEC week, over 900 worldwide national and industry representatives from 192 member states 2 Special Administrative Regions, EU, WCO, UN and more participated in Montréal, the Headquarter of International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) for reviewing, discussing and sharing the latest trend of aviation security. Such fruitful and remarkable journey could not be done without members’ prolonged support.
The president of SCSA, Mr. Jimmy Pang, was honoured to be invited for holding a presentation right after the key note speaker in the first day of the event. Mr. Pang talked on the topic “Industry Approach for Cross Border Re-Export Safety and Security and Aviation Threats” in front of the representatives. He covered on the situation, as well as challenges, of Hong Kong, saying about the aviation safety and security matters under the cross-border re-export environment. He highlighted the Li-CAT programme, reflected that different organisations are taking balance between business concerns and rules and regulations. He shared a practical case of how logistics service providers in Hong Kong are able to tell the integrity of a cargo without ‘opening the box for checking’, which initiated interest among the audience. After Jimmy’s speech, speakers from all over the world with various expertise, such as representatives from technological industry and screening service providers, staged and gave their insights. There were also sessions that were discussing topics including security, screening techniques, implementation and efficiency, and more. Having chance to hearing from thoughts and knowledge of experts all around the world sure is a great learning experience. It will certainly become part of our fuel on RACSF issue.
We also managed to meet a lot of professionals in our booth. Professionals from Africa, Russia, Dubai, and other Asian countries representatives from authorities engaged with fruitful conversations and exchange idea with us. Most of them showed interest on current situation in Hong Kong, especially on the topic of Lithium Battery handling. They perceived Li-CAT programme as a risk assessment approach that is capable to meet requirements altogether. Moreover, they were keen on develop a network with us, as they kindly invited us to become part of their conference in the future. We value every opportunities of studying others’ best practices, as well as sharing our accumulation to others.

本年度其中最具影響力的全球性供應鏈安全活動國際民航組織AVSEC 研討會經已完滿結束。900 多名來自於192 個契約國、歐盟、世界海關組織以及聯合國等的業界代表聚首一堂，於國際民用航空組織（ICAO）總部討論和分享有關航空安全的最新趨勢。本會在此謹多謝會員的長期支持成就了這次獲益良多的旅程。
