Dialogue with our members – WPC International (HK) Ltd.
In 2007, WPC International (H.K.) Limited was established with a head office originated in Singapore. Within these 11 years, WPC (HK) often cooperates with other WPC quarters around the world. Furthermore, they are always keen on working with other practitioners. Adhere to their motto “Worthy, Professional, and Caring”, they become one of the best logistics practitioners in Hong Kong nowadays.
Eddie Mak, the General Manager of WPC (HK) said, their company will be focusing more on warehouse issue in future. He admitted that it will not be easy since land supply is always an issue in Hong Kong. The operating warehouse of WPC (HK), occupied approximately 80000ft. The warehouse can handle a huge amount of throughput daily, and it also meets the safety standards.
Since Typhoon Mangkhut left with a massive impact unresolved, the status of warehouse is in the utmost concern for logistics companies. Luckily, as Eddie humbly said, their warehouse was not seriously affected by the typhoon. It is because of they designed the warehouse slightly tilted to ensure the flooding will be easily flowed. Such clever ideas could make a significant different, in which caring is one of the credits to the success of WPC (HK).
RACSF is the biggest challenge in front of WPC (HK) in their warehouse business. One of the greatest concerns raised by other practitioners are the increasing security screening standard. Eddie denoted that they are already doing beyond the standard currently. At least 30% QCP is already a norm in their company, so they are more than capable in terms of dealing with the escalating QCP.
For WPC (HK), Location and machinery are the two biggest concerns. Eddie admitted that finding a place that is able to fulfill the requirements and near to the airport as well is a challenging part. Moreover, the practical issues of X-ray machine, such as expenses and operation, are also some critical issues.
Lastly, Eddie said WPC (HK) joined SCSA mainly for broadening their network. Moreover, they also want SCSA to be their advisor on RACSF issues, such as warehouse location, machinery and manpower.
